Commemorating Our Heritage

Seife OhlerComment

Spring is a renewal but it is also a good time to look back and take stock of where we are and how we want to approach the next growing season. This is true professionally, in gardening, or in life. I’ve been doing a bit of all three recently. So let’s do just that!

A quick look back: We had a nice giveaway campaign on twitter at the beginning of April. We ended up choosing two winners for our contest. The contest was a lot of fun and that will become a monthly feature. If you would like to participate in the future, follow us on twitter at @mightywhitesoap. Interacting with our customers is more rewarding than anticipated, We really have the best people!

Where we are: We have become officially Palm Oil Free this month! - This was a personal and professional choice. I choose to keep my company as eco-friendly as I reasonably can. Forgoing palm oil is a personal triumph in my book. I had to make substitutions, use up stock, and change some formulas, which is what takes time, but I believe that it was worth it.

Approaching the next growing season: After talking to some of you, we have decided to start either a monthly or a bi-monthly product release with the theme of Commemorating Our Heritage. We will use submissions from supporters with a personalized soap that tells your story. The story can be anything as long as it tells Our Stories. One example would be a Lily scented soap that reminds you of your mother’s favorite Easter lilies, a soap the exact green of your first son’s eyes, an exfoliating soap that reminds you of fixing cars with your grandfather, or a soap that is reminiscent of where your family is from. Your story will be published along side the soap. We are currently taking submissions, they can be sent to editmaster@mightywhitesoapco.com to begin the planning process.

We have several current submissions and should have our first release the second week of May. Because of the lead time necessary, anticipate more than six to eight weeks for your submission (if selected) to be made and put into production. As time is a factor, please try to submit them sooner rather than later. If your submission is selected, you will receive one at our expense.

I hope to hear from you! - Seife

The Gentile Mercantile

March has flown by, so much has been happening and I haven’t had much time to communicate. I’m making that time now as this is LONG overdue . The biggest happening this month was on March 14th when I received my NOT Kosher-Certified Certification from KosChertified. I’ve used this app to help me find the origins of my ingredients for months now and it has been a God-send. If you have any questions about what you are purchasing and bringing into your home, please download the app today! http://www.thekosherquestion.com/

I’ve added a line of razors and shaving brushes to our site after much work trying to find the best price point for the product while keeping an eye on origin. Parker Shaving filled the roll nicely. Excellent products! I do sell their products at their Minimum Allowed Pricing (MAP) to keep costs for my customers down, so those products will never be included in sales.

Next is the roll out of a new slogan, The Gentile Mercantile. I think it conveys what we do here at Mighty White Soap Co. and will allow us to hopefully expand into the future. I have a loose vision of what an old fashioned mercantile used to be, and want to invoke that spirit. Where we can look each other in the eye and trade goods, honestly, no need for small print. Just wholesome (perhaps) hand made items that support our families and help our children learn skills and trades. I don’t know if it’s possible but I would like to give it a try. To promote the idea, we are holding a Gentile Appreciation Sale - Coupon code GENTILEMERCANTILE will give you 25% off your soap order until the end of the month.

As March comes to a close so too does maple syrup season here, so hopefully I’ll have a little more time in the future to be around. We will be getting new chicks soon, I hope to post pics of them this spring and I will also be adding an additional two bee hives to our yard in April. Lots of work to do in early spring!

I’ve added some new essential oil soaps today; Lavender & Mint and Sweet Orange & Lime, both are soft and sweet. I have some Easter soaps curing on the racks and will have those out soon also. This Sunday I will have the maple soap posted! Are you ready for that!?!

I hope to hear from you!

It's March...I guess

March is a good time of year around here. It’s maple syrup season here in Michigan, spring isn’t too far behind that, and people everywhere start drinking beer for breakfast. So, during Irish History Month we here at Mighty White Soap Co. are going to celebrate…um… shit. Look, It’s March, ok? Try to keep the brawls to a minimum, the sun will be out soon and this will all blow over.

We will be debuting a Maple Nut Fudge scented soap soon in a “Salute to Canada”, We have some lovely spring scents, mostly with green notes coming out and have just recently released several soaps for St. Patrick’s Day.

Irish Republican Aloe

Irish Republican Aloe

With Heavy Cream

This is a lovely soap, the heavy cream makes it perfect for this time of year. Big, creamy bubbles!

Mint Medley

With Minty Botanicals

I like this one a lot! It is very refreshing and minty without being obnoxiously MINT.

These are just fun! I will feature more over the next few days and weeks. Have a great week and happy bathing!

February is an ever-recurring bad joke.

I’m officially starting to get tired of the snow and cold. February is banal, tiresome, and just all-around boring. I need spring, or at least a break in the weather.

Due to the weather, I’ve found that I’ve been making summer inspired soaps lately, without realizing what I was doing. My top three current favorites just happen to be the next three that are going to be released!

The first is a banana soap. This soap has creamy oils to help with the winter-itchies. dried banana powder adds some depth to the scent and i like to believe that the potassium will help with my mood. It’s a wonderful blend of sweet, ripened bananas, caramel sauce, butter, brown sugar, banana liquor, vanilla ice cream, and just a touch of dark rum and cinnamon. A sweet good-bye to late winter and an eager hello to early spring, imo.

The second is a soap that I made from the concord grapes that I harvested last fall. I went overboard picking the grapes, I admit it. I made more grape jelly than I could even give away and I STILL had grapes left over. What to do with all those grapes then? why, I’ll Make soap! It’s truly lovely. I added an activated charcoal swirl and the sugar from the grapes make this a very nice bar of soap. The scent is intensely GRAPE but not in a “grape soda’ type of way, it’s just the strong fresh plump concord grape that comes through. I added a bit of salt to the top of the bar, because that’ s how I prefer to eat grapes, with a light sprinkling of salt.

The last and maybe my favorite is Watermelon Shine. I MUST be craving summer-time! This soap is just good clean fun! I know, I know, we’re Mighty White Soaps, why would we add so MUCH glitter to our watermelon soap? Because it’s pretty and I miss fresh-from-our-garden watermelon. Frankly, this fragrance deserves a little sparkle, with top notes of watermelon, lime, lemon, and bergamot; followed by middle notes of marigold, sweet, juicy melon; with base notes of white musk and vanilla. It’s a show-stopper! Pics soon.

For the remainder of February, the coupon code FEBRUARY,LMAO will give you a site-wide discount of $13 off any order over $50. May it pass quickly!

Today we have a re-stock of Van Zant soap. I really love this scent. It’s bright, citrusy and perfect, fantastic for those sluggish mornings. I have been on a sabbatical recently and this soap has helped me get my butt back in gear during the polar-vortex mornings. I’ve been anticipating this since it was first made right after the New Year. It’s super sudsy and when using a nylon pouf…WOW! The bubbles are super thick and creamy!

It’s always a joy to make this one. It soaps so creamily. LOVE!

There are new soaps coming out in the next few weeks, I’ve quietly added some soaps intended for St. Paddy’s day: Cozy Back Porch, Irish Republican Aloe, Tapped, and Brigid’s Cross. I will have blog posts in the coming days about these. I do plan on actually using the blog now that I believe I have the hang of it. (yes, that’s why it had been hidden, while I learned).

I will also be making some requested items in the next few days. A Bourbon Tobacco scented foaming sugar scrub and some others.
